Our students live in challenging times where the learning and generation of knowledge is an ever widening gap. Only those who are sufficiently prepared today in our schools will be well-placed to live tomorrow.

PKBD endeavours to encourage the growth of community of learns who will confidently employ IT to pursue knowledge and skills and to enhance their experience in an information-driven and global society thus the conception of the PKBD Bursary Awards for top students in ICT field.

The Inaugural Bursary Awards took place on the 14th January 2002 at Pelangi Hall, Riverview Hotel, officiated by Yang Di Muliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Petera Maharaja Dato Hj Abu Bakar Bin Hj Apong , Permanent Secretary to Mininstry of Education.

Objectives of PKBD Bursary Awards
1. To stimulate interest of students in IT in broadening their mental horizon.
2. To promote the use of IT in schools.
3. To encourage active engagement / integration of IT in academic subjects and other areas of work.
4. To encourage acquisitions of skills in accessing and processing information via Internet.
5. To promote creative thinking and self-initiated search for knowledge.

The Inaugural award was open to all 'O' Level Secondary students in government and private schools. The winners were chosen based on their academic performance in Computer Studies and also the quality of their coursework projects, assessed in 3 aspects; originality, creativity/innovativeness, and practicability.

Lim Pey Han, One of the three students’ recipient of Bursary Awards 2003 receiving her certificate from Guest of Honour, Dato Paduka Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, Deputy Minister of Education. It took place on 27th February 2003 in Indoor Stadium Berakas.

· Veerappan Sundar - St.George's School.


Most Progressive Student in IT' Awards
PKBD Bursary Awards was also extended to students studying Computer Studies in Institut Teknologi Brunei. Since 2002, PKBD has been awarding the 'Most Progressive Student in IT' Awards.

Tan Hsu Huei @ Muhammad Johnny Aqil Abdullah Tan, received the ‘Most Progressive Student in IT 2003’ from Institut Teknologi Brunei with PKBD representative, Mr.Yahkup Menudin. The presentation was made on 29th May 2003 at Jerudong Park Polo Club
